This blog was conceived after the Scottish Cup Final of 2004 when Celtic played Dunfermline. The idea was discussed in The Last Post pub in Paisley late at night as a means of allowing us to share news, opinions and post links of mutual interest. The date of the Final was 22 May.
I think it is probably right that you can't stop some idiot running on to the pitch. But how much do we pay Strathclyde police? The guy runs on in full view of 60,000 people, hospitalises the keeper (nice photo Diggy) and then runs back into the crowd and escapes. I heard he turned himself in. Does this mean the police couldn't even catch him?
From the highlights of the game it looked that Celtic were not outclassed and played some football. When I was listening to the radio though it sounded like Milan upped their game after the first goal. I thought the team would miss some experience in Europe but maybe not. Brown also is doing well. I thought he was essential if we were to win the league but I was afraid he would be sent off in Europe. The bookings he gets do though take a bit of the edge off his game. It will be really hard for Celtic to get through. I can't see Benfica getting no points from Celtic and I'm not sure what results we want from Milan and Shaktar. We never tested the Shaktar defence but they looked a good side.
On another point I see that Gordon needs a mandate. I thought we voted for parties that had manifestos and that we gave governments mandates. Do we now have a presidential system. If so we've brought it in the back door.
