Season 2007-2008

  1. Just an amazing season with unbelievable games. Celtic were fantastic to win seven games in a row. But Rangers collapse was equally dramatic. Can they fall further I hope so but I have this feeling that that extent of joy can't be experienced in this world.

Did Celtic win the league or did Rangers lose it? JVOH in the very last minute showed Celtic's resolve, but we also needed Motherwell's equaliser following Cousin missing a great chance to put Rangers two up.

The season has a lot of great memories. But I don't think I will ever forget McCurrie's role at Ibrox against Dundee Utd. Levein's comments were superb and I think DeVries' goal celebration was one of the best I have ever seen. I've never seen that level of sarcasm to brilliantly portrayed on a football field.

The added bonus is direct entry into the Champions League. Some of the teams Celtic could have faced there scare me. I thnk Barcelona have to qualify this year. I hope they get Rangers - no maybe not we might need Rangers to have some kind of run in Europe.

We need players for Europe but I think the worst position in the whole team is left back. We need a new left back even for Scotland.

Lots of great posts this season I loved the Hitler stuff. But I watched the Charlie Chaplin post many times - what a brilliant speech.

  2. Not sure the season had that many great memories, Gerry, but the end sure did. And Thursday night will live long in my memory. :-)

I hope that Celtic put this season in perspective - great ending, shame about the rest. It's interesting to note that we only got our act together when wee Gordon stopped tampering with the team and played the 11 that nearly every supporter wanted e.g. no Donnati.

Still, the fact that this team isn't very good but we still won the league, makes it sweeter. :-)
