This blog was conceived after the Scottish Cup Final of 2004 when Celtic played Dunfermline. The idea was discussed in The Last Post pub in Paisley late at night as a means of allowing us to share news, opinions and post links of mutual interest. The date of the Final was 22 May.
It was an incredible way to win the title. With the cup final against Dunfermline it should be the double. So it was a pretty good season overall.
The team needs an overhaul if we are to go on and win 3 titles in a row. JVOH looks good and I hope he can be less injury prone. But he needs a class partner so that when he is injured there is still one goal scorer in the team.
We also need a real presence in midfield. I like Scott Brown but would prefer someone with more experience and less likely to pick up so many bookings or sendings off. But I wouldn't want another sitting midfielder. I would want someone who could tackle but not sit right in front of the back four. I'm not sure about Wilson at right back either.
Quite a few also have to leave. But how easy this would be to do I don't know. Will the competition be better next year? I suppose it should be as Rangers were dire and Hearts went backwards. But we have more to build on and I think will win it again. Hopefully we will still have Nakamura.
Agree that we need an overhaul - and not just the usual suspects (Miller, Lennon, Telfer etc.). There are others (including Hesselink - or "Cashlink" as he is also known) need to get the finger out. Running around like a headless chicken (Graveston) is not worth £40K a week.
They were all dire yesterday. The only consolation is that this might convince the people holding the biscuit tin to give GS some (real) money in the summer. We need it.
