This blog was conceived after the Scottish Cup Final of 2004 when Celtic played Dunfermline. The idea was discussed in The Last Post pub in Paisley late at night as a means of allowing us to share news, opinions and post links of mutual interest. The date of the Final was 22 May.
This was a very disappointing programme. I know next to nothing about scientology and after the programme I didn't know much more. Is Panorama not meant to inform? I did find the hounding of the journalist amusing with the scientology PR man really beating him at his own game. But he was up against an almost superhuman foe. Was this guy an alien? Why did he get so upset with being called a cult? My ancient dictionary describes it as "a specific system of religious worship". This programme just went for entertainment - at its own expense.
I didn't see the programme Gerry but I find all of these types of programme (Panorama, Newsnight, etc.) a bit of a joke and a waste of time. But the guy Sweeney certainly lost it and it's always funny to see these people get some of their own medicine.
