This blog was conceived after the Scottish Cup Final of 2004 when Celtic played Dunfermline. The idea was discussed in The Last Post pub in Paisley late at night as a means of allowing us to share news, opinions and post links of mutual interest. The date of the Final was 22 May.
I really enjoyed the game. i thought we started really well but faded in last 20 minutes of first half and didn't get started in second until we were 1-2 down. The substitutions worked really well with a couple of great crosses from McGeady for the goals.
It was good to win as Aberdeen played pretty well.
Villareal are an excellent side. I thought we played reasonably but when they stepped it up they showed how much better they are. Exposed our left back position again although I din't think right back looked secure either.
Against recent criticism I thought both Brown and McManus had really good games. Every striker can miss chances so I don't think Samaras should carry any blame. They deserved to win. I can see us not getting any more points until the Aalborg game. We will need to beat them to get into UEFA cup. There will be enough pressure on that without it having to be our first away win. At this moment I think the league is the priority anyway.

ReplyDeletePretty much agree with Diggy. Very exciting. I would have taken 2-2 after 75 minutes.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow will be the real yardstick for the current squad. Making a game of it would be an improvement over the last few years.
