This blog was conceived after the Scottish Cup Final of 2004 when Celtic played Dunfermline. The idea was discussed in The Last Post pub in Paisley late at night as a means of allowing us to share news, opinions and post links of mutual interest. The date of the Final was 22 May.

RIP Shuck
Paul (Shuck) Hughes died a couple of weeks ago, shortly followed by his wife Maureen. Both were buried last Tuesday. They leave behind four sons. Shuck is pictured on the extreme right hand side of the above photo, taken at my wedding in 1980.
Yes I think it might well have been Shuck's house. I can't remember it properly though in some ways the memory is still fresh and it doesn't seem that long ago.
The last time I met Shuck must have been about 25 years ago. It was at the McGills bus stip in Causeyside street. He was telling me that he had been painting Paki Bonner's house.
I remember that night, I drank a bottle of Hirondelle red wine and was very drunk. I remember Vinnie not letting anybody near the record player. I went to bed and Vinnie woke me up about 2 hrs later saying everyone was going home, just to get me out of bed.
When I remember Shuck, its his laid back attitude and hislove of Led Zepplin and playing them at Bobby's parents house.
Billy, I remembered Shuck's easy-going manner. But I forgot how much he liked Led Zep, so thanks for reminding me. I remember sharing a joint or two and listening to LZ II/IV with him.
OK guys, I need to correct you. It was in the Laffety hoose that vinny played Mull of Kintyre all night. I stayed awake the entire night and made it to an early shift in the RAI!!!
I thought Shuck was a nice guy. But my fondest memories are of Maureen who was one of my best pals through secondary school. She was the nicest, quietest girl I ever knew. Not sure why she hung around with the rest of our group!

This is incredibly sad. Am I right in thinking that it was in Shuck's house that Vinny played "Mull of Kintyre" all night?
