Referee saga - Celtic have gone too far

The behaviour of Lennon is juvenile and embarrassing but this only this reflected his lack of maturity and unveiled the slow revelation that he is not up to the job. What was worse was the unwise announcement by John Reid who forgot that he was representing a great club and instead took us down into the mire of the long dead sectarianism of a previous Scottish society. He failed to see that attacking and libelling a long standing referee of good account and the whole upstanding fabric of the Scottish game would only paint the club in a poor light. We simply can't handle defeat and this type of blaming others to camouflage our own faults can only further ruin our reputation.

What was worse though was the giving of encouragement to those within our support (probably the majority thereof) who would seek to do harm to those referees and their families who have the temerity to give a decision against Celtic. But then of course we just like to stone referees like Mr Dallas - did we not do a good enough job the first time? This is probably one of the most disgraceful episodes in the club's history. It ranks up there with the injudicious removal of Tony Mowbray when the man was just bringing the team to greatness.

Or have I got this all wrong?

  1. Oh Gerry you are so cynical. I nearly answered you in the affirmative.

I think Celtic are going to have to compromise here (6 game ban for Lennon) and McDonald can carry on doing matches except ours. He'll soon want to spend more time with his family.

With Dallas now gone, the next one has to be Peat. He is an arrogant bigot and it would be nice to get rid of him before he retires.

The stuff on CelticQuickNews this month has been amazing. For years all we read are rumours - tasty but generally wrong. Now everything that has been dripped has been shown to be true.

I can't wait until the next big story (altered referee reports?) breaks.

  2. Likewise Gerry you had me going for the first sentence or so. The corruption and bigotry that is being exposed shows an organisation that is morally bankrupt. In general terms I think Scottish society has become less bigoted in the last 20/30 years where even instituitions like banks and the senior civil service have started to open up, it would appear that the SFA is stil in a time warp. I hope Peat goes soon, but I'm not sure Celtic should be having to compromise at all. Parallels with the collapse of the Stalinist regimes in Eastern Europe are there and the whole rotten edifice could collapse, taking with it a lot of the corrupt and inefficient officials with it.
