Halifax move for McStay

I don't know if this blog will work. But on the assumption that it has isn't it a bit disturbing that young Scottish players want to play for Ireland rather than Scotland? Or am I missing something? Did McStay have a terrible time playing for Scotland and advise his son against it. Or is it just a football thing?

  1. Well done Gerry it worked. :-)

I agree that it's a bad thing that these players choose to play for a country other than Scotland. I think that the player's "natural" home country should get first refusal. Players like McStay and McGeady play into the prejudices of people who think of Celtic as a "foreign" team.

  2. I don't think this can be Paul's son (look at http://www.eleven-a-side.com/boysingreen/irish_soccer_detail.asp?newsid=13727).

I think we would have been inundated with our free "meeja" giving us pelters if he was.

  3. I am very impressed. Those Rebus novels certainly paid off. Fine piece of detective work. County Armagh native! The BBC have let us down. It wouldn't have happened in Greg Dyke's day. So Diggy I suppose you will be off to the pub then. In the back room with the regulars.
